Stayed here several months back. Figured I'd throw my datapoints into the ring for the benefit of the community.
Check-in was... let's call it dynamic. Upon arrival, I was informed that no suites were immediately available, but if I was willing to cool my heels in a temporary room, they'd ring me in about 2 hours when a suite is cleaned up and assist with the move.
Fair enough. I parked myself in the temp room, but naturally didn’t bother to unpack since I was supposedly just putting my heels up for couple hrs.
Fast forward two hrs: no call. I ring down to check on the suite, only to be met with a thoroughly confused agent who seemed genuinely baffled that I was requesting another room, since (and I quote) “but sir, you’re already in your room.”
Slightly annoyed, headed downstairs to locate the original agent who’d promised the suite swap (didn't note his name).. turns out he'd clocked out for the day with no handover.
After some back-and-forth, the new receptionist confirms there are, in fact, no suites available, and my “temporary” room was now my home for the stay. A masterclass in miscommunication.
Now onto the property itself. The hotel happens to be physically attached to the entrance areas of some of Dubai’s glittering restaurant set — CouCou, Sushisamba, Signor Sassi, et al. The downside? The lobby transforms into a full-blown zoo most evenings, particularly on weekends. The porch clogs up with luxury cars and selfie-takers, while the lobby becomes an unofficial pre-dinner hangout for nonhotel guests occupying every sofa in sight. Bellhops look overwhelmed trying to decipher who’s actually staying at the property versus who’s waiting for friends / a table upstairs. Unsurprisingly, this blurs service attentiveness on the ground floor quite a bit in the evenings.
Later at night, the exodus repeats itself, as restaurant patrons loiter in the lobby waiting for their Ubers after dinner, creating mini traffic jams at the porch.
If your idea of hotel ambiance includes crowded Friday night vibe at a Dubai hotspot, you’ll feel right at home.
There is a charming oddity: if you happen to be the sole attendee at the evening champagne sabering (which happened to me one night), you may find yourself on the receiving end of extremely generous pours (and refills).
Dining within the hotel itself is rather uninspired.. almost feels like an afterthought compared to the heavyweights next door. The attached mall offers some quick bites, but don't expect anything memorable on the F&B front - the Ramen place in the basement was really good though.
All in all, some glitzy surroundings and a few entertaining moments, but service consistency remains... aspirational.
