I once misconnected with my family, inbound from VIE (weather-related, every flight in VIE was late). We landed in MAD around midnight. We were given vouchers for meal at the airport (did not use them), taxis + hotel. J = taxi, Y = bus. Hotel was actually very nice. Casa de las Artes. They said they normaly acommodate J pax at Melia Castilla, but it was not available. We couldn't collect our luggage, because it was too late to be delivered in the carrousel. IB actually booked 2 nights at the hotel, so that we could check-out late, because our flight the next day (to GRU) left in the evening. Meals at the hotel were included. I thought IB handled everything very well, and was grateful that they went beyound the basic required assistance, especially considering that the delay was not IBīs fault. I was Oro at the time, and we were travelling in J (some of us on revenue tickets, some on Avios).
