I think you should take the upgrade for 40k miles. On a day flight premium comfort is quite a decent improvement over economy, especially on what I expect will be a full flight.

Yes, relative to other award flight options it is relatively bad value. However you have so many miles I suspect it is much worse value to just keep them and wait for the next devaluation. So unless you have a firm plan to use your miles then I would go for the upgrade.
