Lying in a room at the Moxy Sydney Airport and I’d say it’s an outstanding value (based on a comparatively pretty low rate). The design is typical Moxy, industrial chic meets hardware store steampunk in the public areas, while the room has a beachy vibe with the wooden pegs hanging a table, two chairs, some hangers and a fabric bag that is “Love me & leave me, I’m yours for the stay” and “Tote me home, $5 tote”.

Thoughts:

-Staff has been accommodating/helpful, and the valet parking has worked fine. Remember to allow 10 minutes (they say 10-20) or so to deliver the vehicle, and parking it out front and dropping the keys on return.

-Parking out front is mostly 3P, with a no parking area directly across the street and 1/4P in from of the entry (for non-Aussies, that’s 3 hour parking mostly).

-The area looks sketchy, but seemed fine walking at night.

-The (free) shuttle is not especially convenient (seems to run about every two hours), but the Mascot Metro station is a short 15 minute walk. The Domestic Terminal one is slightly closer, but incurs a surcharge.

-Climate control is perplexing, but a bit of mashing and adjusting brings results. South-side rooms (even numbers, I believe) would avoid sun load heating.

-Planes are audible, but not really noticed at night.

-Otherwise the rooms are reasonably free from noise and bother.

-The bathroom design is NOT a favorite of mine, being a sink in the entry hall, then a shower (rainfall head and hand wand, with controls on the opposite wall <a+> and a toilet behind a sliding, translucent panel door with no lock.

-Switches by the bed control the primary room lights, and there is also a power outlet, and a USB-A and USB-C.

-As noted, two folding chairs, a folding table and one seat…no luggage rack.

-Safe in a drawer under the bed.

-Ceiling is raw concrete, matching the design esthetic of the public areas.

-TV is large, and radiates heat into the room with use.

-Besides the two single outlets by the bed, there is a double switched outlet under the sink, another across from the sink, and the third in the main room area, by the regular chair, and having a USB-A and -C along with the two power outlets. All room power outlets are standard Type I.

-Breakfast is AUS$29, valet parking is AUS$40/day or AUS$25 for up to 8 hours.

-Bonus, got in at 0630, reached the hotel at 0810, hoping to store the bags, and they had a room I could have immediately. It’s not assured, but it’s good to know they’re happy to try…and this was NOT booked with my Marriott Bonvoy card or membership number.
