I'm confused - isn't the card conveying UC membership?

So to put it another way:

1. non *A Gold - must spend $50,000 on the PP card in order to bring a guest into the United Club, and the membership is restricted to United Clubs only (no MLL,for example) unless the spend threshold is met
2. UA Gold including lifetime - everything in 1. above doesn't count including flights on purely domestic itineraries - meaning even without the spend on the PP card, you can bring a guest, or access any partner club (although this part comes from the *A membership itself)
