What if I’m in that the check in line using my and overhear another guest’s name and room number who is checking in right in front of me? I could just charge everything on our stay to their room. Vegas attracts many degenerates that’s why it’s a blanket policy to do so at all resorts. We’ve stayed with Caesars and Cosmo before it joined MGM both had the same policy for room charges.
I've had experiences eating at all those hotels except the first four. I've sometimes been asked for ID and sometimes not. My last name is not particularly common, so I may get asked for ID less. It's possible if your last name is "Smith" they'd ask you for ID more since it's more likely someone would correctly guess "Smith."
I've never been asked for an ID at any of the more upscale restaurants, except when using a credit from my player's card.
