You are probably right! And of course I eat from food stalls too and I guess their boiled stuff is not prepared with bottled water.

I think I got into the “if it absorbs water use bottled” habit living in Kazakhstan where everyone who could afford to used bottled water in this way. Not bacteria contamination but high levels of some mineral in the city’s water was very high.
