DL has managed to make it work with their miles indexed to 1 cent/mi (1.2- 1.3 cents if you have certain cobrand cards)- their Amex revenue seems to be going as strong as ever.
But then again, people fly DL in spite of SkyMiles, whereas for many on AA it is the opposite- and I hope AA remembers that
