I noticed on flightaware.com that AF has been using the 787-900 on the MSP-CDG route. The flight time wheels up to touch down appears to be approximately 7 hours 45 minutes; direct distance is 4,214 miles.
When I've flown on AF IAD-CDG and back, AF has used the 777-300; I have also flown once on the A380 and once on an A340-600. That trip covered 3,850 miles in roughly 6 hours 45 minutes.
I've done J, Y and their "premium voyageur", which I understand has been improved. During meal times, the FA crew work very hard, but, once meal time is over, the FAs tend to disappear. There is a small buffet-type set up in J where they put the bottles of champagne (and maybe a bottle of scotch) that they didn't exhaust during dinner. The food and wine tends to be better on AF than on DL. If you like French firewater, AF has such after dinner drinks as cognac, armagnac and calvados (apple brandy from Normandy which is high octane). I usually sleep through breakfast.
