No inside information, but I expect a major devaluation of AA miles to happen before then. 30k AA miles from West Coast to Europe in the summer is too good to last.
I agree that a major AA devaluation is unavoidable at some point. However, I think AA's current weakness in its primary business will make AA somewhat reluctant to massively alter its FFP, delaying the dreaded devaluation.
FWIW, I'd still consider Citi points to be worth more than Cap1 points, even without AA. Other than AC, Citi has basically all the partners that Cap1 has, with better transfer ratios on some hotel partners and BR, and with more frequent and better periodic transfer bonuses as well.
