I’d be surprised if they can’t facilitate this for you in an IC. But you may have to push and explain you want to do it for the points.

The issue may be that if the previous guest hasn’t checked out yet, they can’t post charges - as those would go to the existing room. But with some coordination I bet they could do it - whether simply by holding onto the bill and posting once you are open on the system as it were or posting to some kind of ‘room 999’ account then transferring. Or notionally checking you in to a holding room and then routing the charges to your actual room once checked in. They may insist on a pre authorisation to a card for incidentals - and again it might be a faff to do that if existing guest is not checked out.
