I have a Swiss passport and applied for an e-VOA (type B1). I arrived August (remembered wrong date above) 8th and the visa was valid until November 11, so roughly 3 months.
It's just so much easier to do it online, rather than queue at the airport and fill in papers by hand...
You then get a PDF e-VOA with a QR code. I can't even remember whether I had to scan the QR code or if just scanning the passport at the e-gate was sufficient. But I did not have any human interaction at immigration.
