Question SL Member Lounge Access

I have read multiple times on and off FT about upcoming changes to the SL members privilege, priority boarding and lounge access in particular. These changes are underway, including the fact that SL members are already being placed in the same boarding group as PEY passengers in recent group boarding trials. I have just read on a Taiwanese forum that Cathay has amended the T&Cs for the Mid-Status benefits, which seems to hint that Lounge Access for SL members will change on 26 this month. Here is a highlight of the changes in the T&Cs:

Effective on or before 25 June 2025 23:59 (HKT)
  • For Silver Members, lounge passes are only available to their travel companions on flights operated and marketed by CPA.
Effective from 26 June 2025 00:00 (HKT)
  • For Green and Silver Members, lounge passes are only available to Members or their travel companion on flights operated or marketed by Cathay Pacific.
Here are a few questions of mine, like how likely is it that the lounge access will be entirely taken away, or will there be a restricted number of times SL members can use the lounge next year? Also, could there be a difference, if at all, for current or newly-qualified SL members? Or would it become easier to qualify for a higher status?

I am going to book my flights for next year, and I probably will not travel often enough on Cathay to reach 600 status points in a year, so it might be worthwhile to switch to another frequent flyer program.

If there's already a post about this topic, the moderator can merge or delete mine.

Many thanks!
