I feel the A380 is a smoother flight (likely thanks to the size of the plane.) Some flights are prone to turbulence (e.g. to/from Australia) and that makes a difference. The possibility of the upper deck, for those who like it, is a plus (not an option on the 350). The upper deck is also a kid free zone, so it can be a bit quieter. Perhaps it feels like a bit of a treat, with 380 flights being harder to come by nowadays (outside the EK world), while 350s are more common.

But I understand your point overall, I'm generally someone who wants to be in/out of the airport quickly, a good lounge makes up for long layovers, but I don't tend to LOOK for those layovers.
I get it. I guess it depends on the perspective. Some people might be impressed with a garden inside an airport while others might think that a real garden is far better. One thing that would influence my choice is the length of the flights (e.g. after a 15 hour flight in Y, I'm not likely to love any airport and probably prefer to just get to my destination.)
