Say I have an October PHL-LHR segment that I bought economy. I requested the 25K miles + $350 copay upgrade. I would expect this to clear several days before departure, given so many business seats available. Now would this upgrade clear? Or would I need nearly 200K points to clear the upgrade?
Since they still allow SWUs, if upgrade C inventory does open up your request may hold up. Set an EF alert and if/when you see C open up, call immediately.
I booked PHL-LHR to enjoy London for a long weekend and enjoy the new Flagship offering in a front row 'preferred suite', no less. My trip is also in Aug at an AS redemption of 55K points + $18 taxes going over and 55K + the ~$380 departure tax. At the time, many dates in August had AA redemptions at 70K and AS for 55K. Seats.aero alerts spammed me with a ton. I also saw a fair bit of of upgrade C inventory in EF on random dates. They may have tightened all that up now.
