Probably some folks on this thread who have a better idea as to what might be happening than me, but the fact they are doing these equipment swaps so close to the date of departure makes me think there's an ongoing operational issue with the 777HDs (like they have one or two aircraft out of operation due to unexpected maintenance or damage) and they're not sure when they'll be back in service. In my experience, adjustments based on load factor/demand usually happen at least a month or so out to account for crew scheduling.
