Thinking about switching from the Presidential Plus to the United Club Card.

Can I still earn the sign-up bonus if I make the switch? Do I need to apply for the Club Card separately, carry both cards for a while, and then cancel the Presidential Plus? Or is there a way to just “switch” and still get the bonus?
