I've not read the detailed agreement (just the news reports), but I would assume that entering Gibraltar, one would likely need to have the necessary documentation to be able to enter Schengen as well. Not sure what that means when ETIAS gets rolled out completely. Also if there are no checks at the Spain-Gibraltar border, access to Schengen would likely mean defacto access to Gibraltar.

So Gib remains outside of the schengen zone, despite there will no longer be a hard border between Spain and Gib?
Spain/EU passport checks will be performed at GIB for arrivals....ok....what happens if a Brit who had already used up their 90/180 Schengen limit and only intends to stay in Gib?

  • the opportunity for flights to operate from Gibraltar airport to EU destinations, increasing Gibraltar’s connectivity to the continent and improving its prosperity
exciting...but....would these EU flights be treated as schengen or non-schengen flights...?
