Update from my friend on the above BA250 flight, there was a serious technical issue with their 787 that meant they had to divert about 7hrs or so into the 14hr flight and before they started crossing the Atlantic.

All handled as well as can be expected apparently but limited information at the moment about when they will be able to get home. Worse places to be than a hotel in Barbados!
