Worth it to status match?
We are doing a week in Norway/Denmark in August and have 3 stays using Choice points. We currently have no status but do have top status in a few programs that we can seemingly use to match to Choice rewards status. We have never stayed at a Choice hotel and not sure if we will anytime in the next few years other than this trip. Guess my question is does having status get any meaningful room upgrades or other perks? All the hotels seem to come with free breakfast in the free night rate so that isn't a factor. The hotels we have booked are:
*Amerikalinjen Ascend, Oslo
*Hotel Oleana Ascend, Bergen
*Hotel Admiral Ascend, Copenhagen
I was pretty shocked to see how much value the Choice program has in the Scandinavia region. The nights in August we booked were all $425 to $550 if booked with cash or 15k to 20k using points. Total the 9 nights was either $4,375 cash or 160k points. Not my best points redemption ever but one of the better hotel ones I've had in recent memory. Thanks for any thoughts!!!
