Giraud is a more expensive, (in my opinion) a better bottle, but carries less of a brand. So less premium than the two others.
I had that with the Ace of Spade in 380 F last year - the bottle probably should have given it away, but I thought it was excessively mediocre for a US$300 bottle of champagne. I'd have to go look up the J champagne they had at the bar, but I far preferred it and asked for it at my seat afterwards.

They are not at the level of what was offered in days past, and they may indeed be a disappointment in a first class lounge. Admittedly, I remember the days when the Lanson Black was available in Y on Qatar Airways, so yes things have been taken down quite a few notches. So I join the disappointment in the current selection. However, they are perfectly drinkable champagnes in their segment, but at least for the Lanson not the segment I would have expected to be offered in AS.
I don't hate Lanson Black, but it's pretty mid and I feel like, outside of Qatar, it is one of those champagnes along with Nicolas Feuillatte Brut that tends to show up when the airline must serve champagne but is trying to nickel and dime it. As you said, very much not an AS champagne and feels like a misstep on QR's part for what is normally proud to be a premium airline.
Also, based on the menu right now, you can get a rose champagne in AM but not AS (I can confirm in a few weeks

). Again, feels like a misstep.
