Dom Perignon is a good example. A perfectly fine champagne, probably priced above what it really offers but seen as the epitome of luxury. I'd any day prefer a bottle of Henri Giraud Fut de Chene, a far better glass. Funnily enough SQ served that for a while and sone v/bloggers looked down on it, as it was not Krug or DP, and they did not get the "premium experience". Giraud is a more expensive, (in my opinion) a better bottle, but carries less of a brand. So less premium than the two others.
I am not sure I have a favourite champagne, I do have some I return to a lot, and they are typically not from the big houses. Though I do have a thing for Veuve Clicquot. And a few bottles of LGDs stashed away at home. Which I would by the way also prefer over a DP, and have enjoyed at times in AS.
Exactly. I don't care about having a "premium experience" based on the wine label or price. I'm not trying to impress anyone. I care how it tastes. And I completely agree with you, both on Dom and on Veuve.
