It's not "for the time being", it's forever. It's staying permanently as checkpoint two.
Not sure who edited my post title, but this isn't a "relocated Checkpoint 1", it's an entirely new checkpoint. They renumbered the existing checkpoints as part of the work, to align them better with the sky bridges they serve.
