Hi
Initial thoughts
City views not as impressive as conrad as waldorf hemmed on by tall buildings but views of osaka station area are good.
lobby area and walk to jolie and peacock alley is beautiful
Library area very good and fairly unique
Rooms feel a bit smaller than conrad but beautifully appointed. Sparkling as well as still water provided in rooms.
Still new hotel smell
The bath is large but standard shape compared to the circular bath at conrad.no natural light but lighting is good
I felt getting from nishi umeda station through osaka station a bit confusing but would get used to it after a day or two
cantaloupe melon ( very good) in room as welcome gift
got a premier room on 35th floor with 1pm check out
service is on a level above conrad ie green tea and cold towel at check in, personal escort to your room, staff calling the elevator for you when you approach .
dinner at jolie is very good with good service
pool on a par with the conrad ( maybe a bit shorter)
no lounge of course
Different design concepts and lighter tones here at wa compared to the darker tones at conrad
So far hard to choose between the conrad and wa ( i loved the lounge at the conrad but the ambience here at the wa is better)
will go to peacock alley and gym later
Regards
Tbs
Library on 30th floor. Free coffee and water available. Piped music also. Empty just now
Slightly annoyingly peacock alley (welcome drink voucher) closes at 10pm wednesday to sunday but last orders is at 930pm which is a bit early ( found out the hard way when going down at 940pm). Welcome letter said last order times for the restaurants but only 10pm for peacock alley.
will need to have a morning drink before heading to kyoto
Had a good night's sleep though the tablet that controls lighting etc is very bright ( had an eye mask anyway). There is a small button on top of it that shuts it off but also switches off the alarm ( better to use the phone or the alarm clock)
breakfast was very good ( one hot entree). Had the french toast that was excellent but one you ordered the hot entree the other buffet items were continental in style.
breakfast was busy and staff seemed rushed at times ( ie it was only when I was about finished that someone asked if I wanted another coffee (minor point but this is a 5star hotel)
the welcome drink in peacock alley comes off a limited menu and sat at the bar counter whereas the tables at the windows seemed to be reserved for diners
I had a jw black label and ginger ale
The welcome drink
They left the bottle in front of me ( I took that to mean I could help myself

but I would pass out if drank the rest of the bottle). I helped my self to 2 smaller servings and nobody said anything before going back to my room and packing
the umeda sky building is about 5mins walk from the hotel
Pool was relatively busy compared to the conrad pool
