On a different note, I've flown several intra-Europe routes on LH and never had the same menu. On these flights, I had the same dessert and could have had by accident the same main as well...! I'm not sure how LH manage to ensure variety but I would guess they have a much larger menu to choose from.

Because we are not in Europe, that is why. I believe AUS is a focus city; they stopped sad box meals, for this, just like SLC-SEA. There are no pre-order on that route.
