Jun06 DL986 LAX-AUS & DL3731 AUS-IND

Both flights delayed by about an hour

DL986 LAX-AUS

Full PDB, snack basket before take-off as well. Crew very attentive throughout.

Beef had a funny (off?) flavor, but I'm still alive plus one day. It wasn't fork tender but could be easily 'torn apart'. The sauce was good. Opera cake was the highlight, salad was fresh. My neighbor had the curry which looked good, although I didn't see it on the menu (or didn't scroll down far enough...).

DL3731 AUS-IND

no PDB or snack basket (at least not pro-actively offered).
Front bathroom's sink could not be used, but at least there were refreshment towels offered instead.

No menu online or on the app (offered choice between chicken or arugula salad), but it was plated to my surprise:

That's the exact same chicken Greek salad as per above menu. Did the job and chicken was super moist. Opera cake was also the same, crackers & fruit were a nice addition.

Ryder Estate wines (chard & cab) are OK, nothing special but also not bad either.

I thought this was a box route, so nice surprise. This route is only marginally longer than IND-JFK/LGA, for example. Why can't DL drop the 900-mile cut-off to something more sensible and in line with European airlines?

On a different note, I've flown several intra-Europe routes on LH and never had the same menu. On these flights, I had the same dessert and could have had by accident the same main as well...! I'm not sure how LH manage to ensure variety but I would guess they have a much larger menu to choose from.
