Let me say I think the world of the benefit/opportunity and admire Hyatt for it immensely.
Its not never but I'd like to hear about a Guest Of Honor suite upgrade at Andaz Maui,Hyatt Regency Maui Hyatt Regency Waikiki,Park Hyatt Paris, Park Hyatt New York
Andaz 5th Avenue etc

I couldn't get my family member an upgrade to premium guest room or club access @
Hyatt Regency San Francisco airport on a quiet night.
That is till I intervened. Was embarrassed to do so.
In one such experience where I gifted the room on points at Hyatt Regency O'hare they billed
my personal credit card for the GOH breakfast and complimentary water upon check out
When I complained to the hotel they blew me off.I gave up.

Understand the GMs positive thinking and perhaps Hyatt's intentions which makes perfect sense in reality
however it simply doesn't stack up statistically in my own experience where actions always speaks louder than words.
My experience and perception is the hotels room execs/front office managers
see these primarily as a nuisance.
I've got a boatload of contacts @ Hyatt globally so I will bring it up with folks in my future travels to get a better overview
as I really never broached the subject in the past.
Granted you will likely have some exception stellar properties who simply are above board but I would debate they aren't in the majority when it comes to going above and beyond on Guest Of Honor.
YMMV
I think A LOT of people and even Hyatt properties really misunderstand what actually happened with GOH.

What they saw was being overloaded with tons of GOH’s in a relatively short one year timespan. This is because EVERY Globalist received 5 of them at the start of 2024 with a 14 month validity.

This was harmful because many of those Globalists had earned status via either the AA, Bilt or Corporate Challenges and their status was due to expire only 2 months after receiving those. On top of that you had the pool of regular Globalists, and on top of that you had hundreds of thousands of CAA’s floating around. Now that Globalists have a choice for the 20+30 Milestones they aren’t stuck with CAA’s.

So people who earned Globalist, or even stayed as a GOH, during that transition period experienced diminished upgrade availability, overcrowded lounges, and exacerbated hotels.

But that transition period ended at the end of February after which I’ve noticed things getting back to a new normal which significantly less GOH’s and CAA’s out there as well.

I’d love to go back to the Legacy GOH method, but Hyatt sees this as the path forward, it’s also hard to fault them when people were booking dozens of rooms using Legacy GOH over the same dates and properties like the World Cup.
