Among other potential issues, the flight that LarryJ was answering was on a 737 (737-800 -> 737 MAX 8 -> 737-800), and the 737 series (and IIRC most narrowbody aircraft) do not have the capability to dump fuel -- you either burn it naturally while in the air or you land with it
