There are several brands of shoes now selling "airport friendly" shoes - but as others have pointed out, your biggest enemy at the airport are thick-soled shoes and those with metal shanks.

And this says nothing about shoe-unfriendly airports, like SFO, there you will be told, if you ask if you must remove your airport-friendly shoes, "It'll be easier if you do."

To me, that sounds a lot like "You want to keep your shoes on? Make my day!" A little intimidation goes a long way - to tick me off!
