I've spent a lot of time in Hong Kong in the past, though none since the pandemic, so here's just a few highlights of my two days.
The last time I went to HK Disneyland was 2008, and since then, apparently they've built things allegedly worth riding. So I did hop over to give the park a quick pass.
I keep forgetting how small this place is. I finished everything I wanted to do in under 2 hours.
Mystic Manor was the ride I kept hearing about. It was fine. Feels like a standard Disney trackless dark ride. Really not sure what the big fuss is. Maybe I'm just not enough of a Disney fan.
How did I not learn until now that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority has a free museum on the 55th floor of IFC 2 you can go up to and look out from?
Great view of the Peak from here. Completely free. Would highly recommend.
This was my first time seeing the new generation of Peak Tram vehicles.
They look slick, I guess, but I'm still nostalgic for the old red paint job.
I sure wasn't paying extra for admission to the observation deck when the building across the street has a publicly accessible rooftop for free.
We were in line to board the tram going back down the mountain when a woman physically shoved her way through me and past everyone else in line to squeeze into a seat near the front. Then she pulled out a lav mic and started narrating about the tram as one of her companions filmed - I assume this is some influencer crap? It was a very unpleasant interaction.
Luckily I still got a pretty good seat.
I felt obligated to get a ride on the double decker trams too. These also take tap-to-pay now, as does the Star Ferry. You really don't need an Octopus card to visit Hong Kong anymore.
Also since when were these trams operated by the RATP? I missed when that happened.
And after two days, I hopped back onto the Airport Express. Next up, a quick Cathay Pacific business class flight up to Shanghai.
