Seeing these cakes makes me even more sad that CX is now so lazy with desserts in J. Desserts are always something moussy in a glass now. It used to be a choice of a cake plus some other kind of dessert.
Glass type dessert could taste really good, such as the Guanaja Chocolate cremeux from Louise and ginger milk pudding from DUDDELL'S. But thanks to opinion like yours (and maybe cost cutting as well), from this month CX has already removed glass type dessert from all flights! And yes, they didn't replace it with another type of dessert, so we now only get (usually too sweet and taste no good) piece of cake and Haagen Dazs on long haul flights.
Some people like to complain about a certain aspect of catering, hoping that airline would improve it. But experiences told us airline would just remove the "unpopular" option without any replacement, leaving all passengers with fewer choices.
But indeed the trend in CX JCL is giving fewer choices to passengers. I guess more choices increases catering complexity. Short haul moussy dessert — removed, long haul 2nd appetizer — removed, long haul 2nd dessert — removed. Now we can worry how long could 6 choices entree on long haul flights last (burger & noodle inclusive).
