Right, I see. The other link provided from help.qantas didn’t say anything about under 18s.
That link quoted also says that check in is at the terminal and online check-in not available.
Quite frankly given the intermingling with pax who have technically left the country, I would be rather surprised if the check-in desk didn’t ask about ID for the child.
Also note the liquid restrictions apply on those flights whereas they don’t on domestic terminal flights.
