There's a few things to unpack here:
- GLA is a great little lounge! Passed through last week. Would rank it way above any QF Business lounge.
- Barista coffee is nice, and probably the biggest plus of the QF (and VA) lounges. Aussies love their coffee done right...
- No alcohol before 12 (and no self-serve) is a big downside for me. I'm not saying I must drink etc but I appreciate BA has it, and if you are on different timezones or on a fun vacation etc, it's nice to have a full bar available through the morning hours.

Came here to state the same thing. Unless you are coffee connoisseur, OWE at LHR T5 or T3 (and GLA) has a much better lounge experience for food & drink than anything QF provides domestically, IMO.

Actually there is some competition from Virgin Australia and when I was looking they were considerably cheaper on all of the sectors in Business. Not sure what they would be like and I would have been tempted had the ntp system been in force when I booked.
VA are similar to QF from a lounge perspective (maybe a bit better, actually), and onboard (in J) usually better than QF (food and drinks + service), IME.
