Actually there is some competition from Virgin Australia and when I was looking they were considerably cheaper on all of the sectors in Business. Not sure what they would be like and I would have been tempted had the ntp system been in force when I booked.
Virgin's J cabin on the 737s is two rows, so maximum of 8 pax. Similar offering to QF - and notably for me, they're serving on-board in J one of the same red wines that Qantas offers in the renowned SYD International First Class lounge (St Hallett Black Clay Shiraz).
