There are 2 kinds of upgrade:
- regular miles upgrade for a fixed amount of miles (reasonable?), for FB Platinum only, as long as there is "regular F award" available, if booked in J C or D. It could be done months ahead if available. Would be great to have the redemption levels, 10 years ago it was 120k for Asia and 75k for US one way.
- upgrades close to departure, for cash and/or miles, for everyone regardless of status or booking class. The cash/miles amount is usually eye watering.
