The interesting view points on the other thread, “my worst CE ever!” is that it seems people would welcome and pay for a few inches extra in CE. Since BA are now targeting the Peggy Lees, Big Spenders, and the post-corona market is remarkably different, then maybe CE needs a rethink.

The departure of Sr Cruz from BA was undoubtedly a good thing for most of its passengers (although little did I know at the time that his successor would turn out to have only a superficial interest in restoring the airline’s former premium status, whilst largely maintaining the “cost-cutting is in our DNA philosophy” )

That said, I do sometimes think that from the purely cold, commercial angle - as opposed to a quality-focused perspective - Alex was perhaps smarter than often portrayed. He densified the s/haul aircraft, thus reducing pitch and offering less comfort to CE passengers ; since when we have seen (notably post-Covid) a gradual uplift in fare levels ; accompanied, ironically, by buoyant demand.
Whether or not that demand will soon be affected negatively by the advent of BAC remains to be seen.
But for now, whilst so many folk are happy to continue to stump up cash for reduced pitch and seats no different from those in ET, I’m not so sure I agree with your view rockerflyertalk that the product “needs a rethink”. Would certainly be nice to see improvements, but the BA mindset - for now, at least - will surely be : let’s just leave well alone.
