No question LAX-HKG will deplane. The HKG-BKK tag is a separate flight (albeit with same flight number), and will pick up connecting pax from SFO, as well as any pax who are just flying HKG-BKK.

The destination is HKG. There will be the usual transit security process at HKG, followed by potential additional screening at the gate. Sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes it's not (not noticeable when we flew HKG-LAX in April).
