For anyone flying Finnair at the moment, keep a very close eye on your emails on the day of departure or your Finnair booking on the AY app.

I was due to fly London to Tokyo Narita in April on a non strike day (via Helsinki, of course) and just as I was boarding the hotel shuttle to the airport an email pinged in my inbox announcing the cancellation of the HEL-NRT flight that day. I did not appreciate having a few hours notice or finding out that AY had already offloaded affected passengers from the LHR to HEL flight, even though that was still operating. They initially tried to reroute me via Brussels onto Hainan Airlines with a long connection in China to Japan but after an hour on the phone, I managed to get on an EU carrier. And the reason given for the last minute cancellation was "pilot shortages".
