If you spent £60k / ~$80k with Delta (Diamond and probably Delta 360) or American (probably CK) they at least send you nice bag tags. I just completed the Delta status match to Platinum and the metal bag tags and tie look indestructible. My luggage handle is more likely to break off.
Even Silver Medallions get bagtags on DL - they know the trinkets work to keep customers hooked (and are quite cheap to produce).
That's one thing I don't get with either BA or VS. Both of them are too cheap to produce a bag tag when it probably isn't a big cost outlay. Having moved over to QF FF (regardless of QF's own woes) at least they give me an actually nice bag tag for each tier I reach.
