For YYC-KEF, since the aircraft is a 737 Max 8 (but not a 787), I am not able to request a vegan meal. Apparently a complimentary meal is served in Y, along with buy-on-board food items (including 1 or 2 vegetarian or vegan choices). Is the complimentary meal vegan- or vegetarian-friendly? Or will I have to purchase one of the buy-on-board choices, or self-cater?
I have also never flown in or out of YYC. Will the SFO-YYC flight arrive in the "D" (international) or "E" (transborder) concourse? I assume the YYC-KEF flight will depart from "D" concourse. Will the connection be easy with no additional passport and/or security screening? Thanks.
I very much doubt there will be any buy on board meal options that are vegan. WS does seem to do vegetarian ok, and additionally will have chips or granola bars that are labelled vegan, but that’s about it. I usually fly in J on WS TATL and they dint make it easy to order a special meal—you have to call in, apparently, though I’ve never bothered. I always self cater.
You should arrive in E and after passport control will exit into an area just before D. No further security screening. It’s one of the few things that works really well at YYC in my opinion. Be sure to have your inbound and outbound boarding passes handy as you have to show both when you exit after passport control.
