The specific comp is that the hotel is to pay for a free night at a comparable hotel. Usually, if it’s midnight there’s no manager on duty to authorize or set that up so it gets sent to Hyatt and the best they can do is issue points instead. Considering 25k points is worth about $500 US that’s pretty good compensation IMHO.
