I've been on that seat from Shanghai to Dubai and it was a fine experience. The plug usually works in J - but provided that I wouldn't trust CEAir Maintenance (the same plugs never worked in Economy Class on their B777) so be prepared if the plug is not working. You might be lucky if there is a last-minute switch to 33H - those planes with 1-2-1 business is slightly more comfortable.

Foodwise they normally serve at least a chicken/beef dish so that should be fine.

Make sure to check out the Premium Check-in Area (Area M) in PVG and their lounges - the check-in area is the most modern one in the airport and is quite convenient while the noodles in the lounges are highly recommended.
