Westjet newbie here flying SFO-YYC-KEF next month in Y.

For YYC-KEF, since the aircraft is a 737 Max 8 (but not a 787), I am not able to request a vegan meal. Apparently a complimentary meal is served in Y, along with buy-on-board food items (including 1 or 2 vegetarian or vegan choices). Is the complimentary meal vegan- or vegetarian-friendly? Or will I have to purchase one of the buy-on-board choices, or self-cater?

I have also never flown in or out of YYC. Will the SFO-YYC flight arrive in the "D" (international) or "E" (transborder) concourse? I assume the YYC-KEF flight will depart from "D" concourse. Will the connection be easy with no additional passport and/or security screening? Thanks.
