This and the Kimpton are the only Glasgow area IHGs I haven't stayed in, earlier posts seemed to be largely positive so I had high hopes for this before reading yours.
It's a shame in particular that the breakfast was poor, even the airport HIX was a level above the typical UK HIX. Do Chinese tourists want to eat Chinese food all the time? If the hotel can't even do a Scottish breakfast well, not sure they can cope with serving Asian food too.

The day return at £2.20 is only valid after 9am on working days. If you want to travel earlier it's £2.90 return. The Scotrail app / smartcard offers a £1.60 return at even more restricted times (basically working days only between 1100-1500 and after 2000). The £2.50 single is valid all day and there isn't a time-restricted cheaper single.
This is the case for many tickets priced by Scotrail. From 1st Sep 2025 (and previously during a trial period in 2023-24) Scotland will abolish peak fares, so the £2.20 ticket will become valid all day, perhaps they will then fix the anomalous single fares.
