My concern with this would be AA’s high IDB rate. I’d guess a Basic economy flyer with no status and no seat assignment would be high on the list for getting bumped if the flight was oversold.
How high is their IDB rate? I have been flying American for 15-20 years (since whenever Northwest Airlines went away) & many of those years as an Executive Platinum. I have personally never witnessed and IDB or known anybody who has been. Seems like the biggest risk for that is when there is an aircraft swap.
