there's been no shortage of widebodies on the redeye from HNL-LAX. It's a pretty short flight and most people want to sleep so the value of the D1 service over regular F is pretty minimal. I certainly am not interested in paying the D1 premium over F service just so I can have an incrementally better lounge experience for 2 hours.
If the companion cert was usable on this routing it might change my opinion but we JUST got the ability to use it here and now it's being taken right back away. I guess I'm lucky I did manage to use it here last year (was planning on doing it again this fall but I guess I just got hosed).
