Great trip report with wonderful pictures. My wife and I spent about 25 days (total) in Japan and Jeju in the fall of 2023 and 2024. Not surprisingly, we visited many of the same places. My wife is enthusiastic about all-things-Japanese but after two comprehensive trips we feel like we've seen enough that we may not return for a while.
The "dome building" you mention is in fact the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, now referred to commonly as the Genbaku (atomic bomb) Dome. Amazingly, it withstood the bomb despite being a mere 150 meters from the hypocenter. I'm not 100 per cent sure, but I don't know that there's even a scientific explanation for how it survived.
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
