recent stay review
There aren't too many reviews right now so I'll share my recent stay experience. I just finished a 4-night stay using free night certificates and my Marriott status was acknowledged during the quick check in and we received a nice welcome amenity of fruits and treats. Our room, a deluxe park view with balcony, was spacious though lacking in character as others have noted. We only had a partial park view as we were on the side overlooking the pool, but street noise was virtually nonexistent except for the occasional very loud motorbike so I had no complaints about our room location.
The service was generally eager and friendly but there were a few little things that still need to be smoothed out. Housekeeping missed our room one day, that was quickly addressed after we called down. We were asked to leave the pool early one afternoon because they were going to film something even though no one had mentioned it when we got to the pool about an hour earlier. I suspect even the pool attendants didn't know about the filming. The elevators were extremely finicky and we had trouble having it register the selected floor several times; it was even giving the staff cards issues so it's likely something systemic that needs to be fixed. Some growing pains, but we enjoyed our stay.
Last thing, this is a design flaw (imo) that no one has mentioned yet I think. The toilet is in it's own room but the door is 100% transparent glass, so if you're traveling with a companion like I was, you'll have to close the two wooden doors to the bathroom for any privacy. It makes no sense to me and totally defeats the purpose of having the toilet separated from the rest of the bathroom. They should really have used a frosted door.
The location is great being right on the blue MRT line and cooling down in the salt water pool was a lifesaver after hot and sweaty days out. The mall next door as a ton of food options including several reputable local restaurants that opened new branches there. A tip: it is possible to get to the mall without going outside (in case it is torrential downpouring), go down to B1 in the parking garage and cross over. The staff said that eventually they will build a walkway or something so that it's not only accessible through the parking garage.
