yeah, there are some places where this works, e.g also in the Chicago Metro. But in most cities in this world buying a ticket for local public transport is an adventure in itself… in some cities you have to buy a charge card and then add some credit onto it (like Paris), in some you have to buy x zones for y days, in others there is „short trips“, „zone trips“ or „region trips“.
it is just messy. And often enough too difficult. Come on, just make it easy. Then people will see the benefit and use public transport. But as long as I have no idea how to get from A to B and how to pay for it, I often default to taxi. While I hate taxi, and would rather go by metro or tram.
Like try to go from ZRH to Basel. The machine will give you 4 to 6 options. With 4 to 6 different prices. But will only tell you the price after you selected if you want to go via ZRH HBF or via Oerlikon. This is just madness.
