Duplicating my post from The Rewards Experience threas as I think people might find this info more easily here.

How are the rooms?
Not very big for a so called “Premium” ……

Room was well maintained - except for the bathroom door which had clearly suffered a flood.

Hardish Bed – especially by UK standards

USB sockets by bed – but of course no C

Bath shower Combo. Cramped bathroom. No hanging space for towels. Second towel had to be sought out in the wardrobe! No face/hand towels.

No Bathrobes – or slippers. Premium Room???????

But did have a trouser press!

Fridge - Not Stocked

How is the exec. lounge?
Tiny. Seats about 30

People queuing to get in

RIDICULOUS shambles as people walked in trying to find a seat.

Red, White, Rose (8.5% ABV in the case of the Rose)

Food ran out in less than 30 minutes. Replenished twice but to a much more basic standard than the menu.

The one very young girl running 30+ covers was beyond competent. I left her a tip and encouaged others to do the same ....

Management must have known they had oversold Lounge access - and it was unlikely to be a lounge pass issue.

What was good and what was bad?

Good

Hotel is OK…..

Location is probably better than some may realise. 4/5 minutes 2 stops on train from Glasgow Central to Exhibition Centre and then turn right for 10m and a covered walkway leads to within 100m of the front door. Train is from Platform 16/17 which is buried deep under the west side of the station. They run 5 or 6 times per hour. Bizarrely a day return is over 10% cheaper than buying a single ticket.

The West End with Kelvingrove the Art Gallery, Museum and fine restaurants is 5 minutes in the opposite direction back through the walkway to the station.

Also an easy and plasant walk to Ibrox (Glasgow Rangers)

BAD

My second totally meaningless Upgrade in Q2 2025 (posting this experiencing a third one!)

Lounge too small for “sold” occupancy

Breakfast was low quality ingredients. The limited bread selection (sliced white and brown) – was just fluffy tasteless pap. Kippers off the small cook to order offer were of the lowest grade. I admit to being not a great fan of Western breakfast – any of the ingredients compared to what we can buy in Cumbria (Cumberland sausage etc) invariably will not come up to our standard. But given the increasing prevalence of Asian guests in UK hotels IHG really needs to provide a breakfast offer that fits the clientele. At 07.00 the breakfast clientele was almost exclusively Chinese.

Would you return

Probably not – Kimpton or even Voco next time

Summary

Value may have been OK’ish during a cheap off peak night (£79 premium river view). But hotel needs some loving care and a massive improvement in housekeeping standards around elevators and corridor doors/fittings.
